Biography

Phil Wachsman: Violinist Phil Wachsman, is an African avant-garde / jazz fusion violonist born in Kampala, Uganda. He has been involved in dozens of free improvisation albums from 1976 to the present day. He has also collaborated with Evan Parker and Roscoe Mitchell and numerous other musicians from both the free jazz and free improvisation genres, not only playing violin but also electronics.

Paul Lytton: With discography comprised of many albums in a number of labels such as ECM, Intact and others, either in duets with Evan Parker or as a trio with Evan
Parker and Barry Guy, percussionist Paul Lytton is both an inventive, textural drummer in the tradition of European free jazz, and a pioneer in electronic sound processing and the use of homemade instruments of his own invention. Lytton made his first noteworthy appearances on the British creative music scene in the late ’60s, and his influence -particularly in live electronics- can still be observed in the experimentation of a new generation of improvisers over 30 years later. Sten Sandell: The Swedish pianist, composer, producer Sten Sandell has been recording since 1983, either solo or in collaboration with other musicians of the contemporary music scene such as Emil Strandberg, Paal Nilssen-Love, Sverrir Gudjonsson, Johan Berthling, Chris Cutler and many others. Since 2013 he teaches at the University of Gothenburg.

Floros Floridis: Floros Floridis, clarinetist and saxophonist, has recorded more than 25 albums starting in 1979 and the double album Improvising In Barakos with Sakis Papadimitriou – the first avant-jazz album to be released in Greece – moving in time with albums Well, anything can happen (Puzzlemusik, 2009) in collaboration with Nicky Skopelitis and Babis Papadopoulos and reaching today’s release. Along the way – and while he shares his time between Berlin, Germany and his hometown of Thessaloniki, Greece – his course through free improvisation, experimental music and free jazz, showed new directions to modern European music. Some of the many marks of this fascinating course are also his collaborations with: Okay Temiz, Günter “Baby” Sommer, Akira Ando, Michael Griener and many others.

Nate Wooley: Nate Wooley is one of the most in-demand trumpeters of Brooklyn’s jazz, impro and noise scenes. He has performed regularly with such icons as John Zorn, Anthony Braxton, Eliane Radigue, Ken Vandermark, Fred Frith, Evan Parker, and Yoshi Wada, as well as being a collaborator with some of the brightest lights of his generation like Chris Corsano, C. Spencer Yeh, Peter Evans, and Mary Halvorson. His discography starts in 2005 (solo or with various collaborations) and counts several dozens of albums the most recent of them being This Echoing Bronze (2018) with the Norwegian saxophonist Torben Snekkestad
