The guitarist from Greece LIVE with his new Theo Kapilidis Neoplatonic Trio. Theo Kapilidis’ work for this project combines atmospheric indie jazz improvisation with the rich folklore of his homeland in the guise of electronic music. The three musicians glide with ease over the astonishing, special rhythms of the southeastern Balkans without ever focusing on their virtuosity. Rather, they explore dynamic possibilities and in no way shy away from the resulting acoustic exposure. And so, Theo Kapilidi’s album “To En” shows how the great journey from the Black Sea ‘Pontus Euxinus’ over the Peloponnese and many stations in the Mediterranean can look into the depths of jazz, without being superficial or clichéd.
