Babis Papadopoulos – From the Dragon’s Cave
“From the Dragon’s cave” is a natural continuity from Babis Papadopoulos’ previous album based on the same philosophy, but at the same time there are significant differences, which renew the means with which he expresses himself, extend the sound and his quests and reveal some of his influences, inviting thus the listener to re- listen from a different perspective his work so far.
Papadopoulos covers (or even confutes) traditional rebetika songs from the 1930s. Songs by: Geroge Batis, Markos Vamvakaris, Vagelis Papazoglou, Ioannis Chalikias, Kostas Bezos, Tetos Dimitriadis. The only song which is a timeline exception is A song from Algiers by Apostolos Kaldaras which was recorded for the first time in 1948.
A token of gratitude and respect to these songs, proving their timeless quality and value.
