Babis Papadopoulos – Joy in pain Pain in joy
A guitar, sound, harmony and instrumentation explorer, Babis Papadopoulos never rests reassured on his previous laurels. He doesn’t simply explore but deposits his work offering us melodic trips of varying moods to pleasantly surprising destinations.
His travel companions on this musical trip the last years are the musicians from the “Acoustic Set”, the band that performs with him in live concerts (when he doesn’t appear solo), who also take part in Pain in Joy, Joy in Pain.
Dimitris Vlahomitros (bouzouki), Dionisis Makris (double bass), Michael Vrettas (violin) and Fotis Siotas (violin and viola)
Babis Papadopoulos has achieved something very rare from the time of his former-always enduring- band “Trypes” and with his recent collaborations with Thanassis Papakonstantinou and Socrates Malamas, but also with his solo career: to communicate both to our heart and our brain. To impress us technically without sentimentalism. To dress our joy and sorrow with melodies.
And all this in a natural way, flowing like the water in the stream, like in Pain in Joy, Joy in Pain.
The album’s title is taken from the Cretan song of the same title by Yannis Dermitzakis (1907-1984)
The album reached no1 position in Avopolis.gr best local album list for 2014, while it was included in many other lists too.
The official album presentation took place at Porta Theatre on Tuesday 20 January, being part of the concert presentations “Trites Paralliles”, and was a great success artistically and due to the vast attendance.
