Christos Alexopoulos – I Alli Plevra

Friday 29 November 2024: The debut album of composer and producer Christos Alexopoulos «Η Άλλη Πλευρά» is released for the first time in digital format, 25 years after its first release.
Originally released by the historic Hitch-Hyke Records (1999), the album is now released by Puzzlemusik for the first time on streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple/i-Tunes, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal and more). The turn of the century was in so many ways a transitional period for music in relation to the then new technologies and for the music industry in general. There are quite a few albums from that period that don’t exist online and this re-release fills one of those gaps.
An EP preceded the release of the album. The EP «Kyklos» (meaning “Circle”) contained the album’s opening song and 3 more tracks (two instrumentals and one vocal) that were recorded exclusively for the EP and were not included on the album.
«Η Άλλη Πλευρά» (meaning “The Other Side”) proposed a sound and aesthetic approach that was unusual for their time and its release was a sensation, as confirmed by quotes from music reviewers of the time.

What followed was a prolific body of work:

After releasing two more albums with Hitch-Hyke records, Christos founded Puzzlemusik in 2006, aiming at releasing albums of artists who have their own, personal, recognizable, distinctive, unique “voice”.
- 2006-2012 Christos released 3 more solo albums and “Alice In Wonderland”, an album in collaboration with the highly acclaimed Greek author Angeliki Darlasi who made the adaptation of the famous Lewis Caroll book.
- During the following years he deliberately abandoned the recording & live performing of solo albums and ventured-as a songwriter, music producer and pianist-into a (then) new project with the singer Maria Latsinou & Mokita (the band that was formed during the process).
- He has also produced such diverse sounding albums as: “Fragmenta” by Niki Tavoulari ,the debut album of the rock band Ψύλλοι στ’ Άχυρα and co-produced Speaking of Secrets the debut album of the group Playground Theory.
- He’s a founding member of the free improvisation project “The 3rd Man Element”. Although the project dates as far back as 2008 and although many archive recordings do exist “The 3rd Man Element” have not released an album, as yet (March 2025).
- Through the years he has composed music for theatre, short film & documentaries, chamber music (awarded in Portugal, Italy, Ukraine, Greece) and TV.
His most recent works on these fields are “Mavroi Pinakes” TV Soundtrack (2024) and the music and songs of the theatre performance “I Kreatopita” (2024).
